Ausschreibung - Bayerisch-französische Kooperationen in Lehre und Forschung

BayFrance was founded in 1998 as a joint institution of the Technical University of Munich (TUM) and the Ludwig-Maximilians-Universität München (LMU) and acts as a regional interface for Franco-German cooperation in research and teaching. BayFrance is funded by the Bavarian State Ministry of Science, Research and the Arts (BStMWFK) and the French Ministry of Foreign Affairs.

Profile of the programme

The programme funds scientific projects that are planned and carried out jointly and in close coordination between the two partners. The call for proposals is aimed at all disciplines and is open to all topics.

The programme supports the following projects in particular:

- joint research projects between two (or more) chairs,
- conception of joint courses,
- seminars organised by two research groups or chairs,
- coordination meetings, projects of binational student groups.

The support of the projects serves to initiate, develop and expand sustainable and lasting research co-operation between the participating institutions.

The funding includes mobility grants for project leaders as well as mobility grants for post-docs and doctoral students. This applies both to stays by French partners in Bavaria and to stays in France.

Applicants

University lecturers from Bavarian and French universities and research institutions are eligible to apply.

Funding criteria

Projects will be selected on the basis of the following criteria:

- Scientific excellence and feasibility of the project;
- Prospects of success for a viable, sustainable co-operation;
- Participation of young scientists.

Selection procedure

All eligible projects are assessed by the BayFrance Board of Directors. The board can also have projects evaluated externally. As a rule, the amount of funding per project application is up to €5,000.

Budget reservation

Funding is subject to BayFrance having sufficient budget funds at its disposal.

Obligation to provide proof of utilisation

The project organisers are obliged to prepare a proof of use of funds, consisting of a factual report and a numerical proof, after completion of the project. Corresponding information and a form can be found on the BayFrance website (‘Download’).

Applications must be submitted before the respective call deadline (usually 15 April and 15 November of each year) via the online application procedure >>.
