Through the Graduate Center, the University of Passau promotes the publication of excellent qualification theses by granting a publication subsidy in accordance with the Guidelines on the Granting of Subsidies to Promote the Publication of Dissertation and Habilitation Theses. Hereby, the University of Passau fulfills the wish of young scientists to recognize the different publication cultures of dissertations and postdoctoral theses in the different subjects accordingly.
The publication grant of the University of Passau is aimed at doctoral and post-doctoral students who were predominantly members of the University of Passau during the preparation of their dissertation or post-doctoral thesis. It is either a dissertation that has been evaluated with the highest grade at the University of Passau or a habilitation thesis that has been accepted at the University of Passau. The grant amounts to a maximum of 1,500€.

The university grant is to be used on a subordinate basis. Other grants are to be used for funding first.
The publication grant can only be paid out to the grantees themselves. A direct payment of the publication grant to the publisher, editing or proofreading service, etc. is not possible!
First, take a careful look at the funding criteria and check whether you are eligible for the publication grant.

An application is possible as an online application or by mail. You can submit an application for the publication grant to the Graduate Center office even before the publication is printed and up to three months after the publisher has invoiced you.
