Note: For persons intending to do a doctorate at the Faculty of Law, the First Law Examination must already be marked at the time of application.
To be eligible to apply, the end date of your studies must be between 30th of April 2023 and 30th of September 2024.
To ensure that your academic performance is assessed appropriately, this section gives you the opportunity to indicate any special circumstances that have led to a delay in your studies (e.g. interruptions due to illness, disabilities, childcare, caregiving periods, etc.).
Details of your planned doctorate
Earliest possible start date: 1st of June 2024; latest possible start date: 1st of November 2024. Funding generally begins at the earliest after all examination results have been completed for the degree programme. A later start is possible in justified exceptional cases, but no later than twelve months after graduation.
Funding is not possible if you are employed by the University of Passau during the planned funding period.

1. Outline of your doctoral project (max. 1 page):
Please briefly outline the idea for your doctoral project and the current state of development.

2. Work programme in terms of content and time (max. 1 page):
Please outline which work steps you are planning for the respective funding months.

3. personal motivation for the doctorate and contribution to further career planning (max. 1 page):
Please address the following aspects when outlining your motivation:
- Why do you want to do a doctorate?
- How do you expect a doctorate to contribute to further personal career planning?

Declaration
I expressly consent to the processing of my data by the University of Passau for the purpose of processing my application for an exposé grant. The legal basis for this consent is Art. 6 Para. 1 Sentence 1 lit. a DSGVO. My data will be used exclusively for selection for the thesis starter grant funding and will be deleted six months after the end of the application period if the application is rejected. If my application is successful, my data will be deleted six months after the end of the funding. Award notifications and final reports of successful applicants as well as an overview of all applications in one year are taken over by the university archives, where they are generally kept indefinitely. Transfer to third parties is excluded. I have been expressly informed of my rights according to Art. 15 DSGVO (right to information), Art.16 DSGVO (right to correction), Art. 17 DSGVO (right to deletion) and Art. 18 (right to restriction of processing). Furthermore, I can revoke this consent at any time towards the University of Passau.
